Tell the NYC Council to Fund Community Land Trusts!

As the Mayor and City Council finalize next year’s City budget, we are fighting to make sure Community Land Trusts (CLTs) are included! Join us in calling for renewed funding of the citywide CLT initiative, to support community control over land and housing.

In the wake of COVID-19, community control of land is more critical than ever to combat speculation and lay groundwork for a just recovery.

The budget could be announced this week — take action today!

1. Call and email NYC Council Speaker Corey Johnson (212-788-7210 / speakerjohnson@council.nyc.gov) and urge him to expand funding for the Community Land Trust initiative!

2. Tweet @NYCSpeakerCoJo using the #CLTsforNYC hashtag. Also tweet your support to Council Members — find yours here.

3. Join us tomorrow, as New Yorkers Speak-Out for Community Land Trusts: June 25 at 10 am – facebook.com/nyccli

Last year, the City Council made a groundbreaking $1 million investment to help a dozen CLTs get off the ground in neighborhoods of color — from Tremont and Melrose to East Harlem, Jackson Heights, Brownsville and beyond.

We are calling on the City to renew and expand the Community Land Trust Initiative, to support communities in developing permanently-affordable housing, commercial and open spaces, and other critical infrastructure.

Thank you for supporting #CLTsforNYC!
