NY1: Queens College Students Rally to Support Credit Discrimination in Employment Act

Students and local officials are speaking out. They want to change a current law they say can ruin their chances at getting jobs. Queens College students rallied in support of the “Stop Credit Discrimination in Employment Act” Wednesday. This legislation would make it so employers can’t do credit checks on potential hires in the city. Students say the current law is particularly damaging to them because they are often in thousands of dollars in student loan debt by the time they graduate.
