New Economy Project works with community groups to develop effective policy, legal and media strategies that challenge corporate power and build support for cooperative and community-based institutions.

Our staff has decades of experience organizing effective coalitions and crafting legislative strategies. We have helped establish cooperative financial institutions and community land trusts, for example, and used shareholder activism, impact litigation and other tools to confront corporations and press for change.

Through our NYC Financial Justice Hotline, we provide know-your-rights info and legal advice to help low income New Yorkers and community groups fight back against discriminatory financial practices.
