Allow Us to Reintroduce Ourselves….

Welcome to New Economy Project’s new website and blog! We are beyond thrilled to have our new website up and running – replacing our original site built for us way back in (cough cough) 2001. Now that we have a site as fresh and dynamic as our new name, mission and campaigns, we hope you’ll visit it often.

More transition is underway. We moved out of our Grand Street offices last week, and will be taking up residence in Chelsea (our first office above 14th Street!) in December.  While the new office is being built out, our hardy staff is camping out at Tough Mudder, Inc., in downtown Brooklyn, where we’ve rented desks for the month. The change of scenery includes meeting rooms with names like “Funky Monkey” and “Everest,” and ping pong and foosball tables in the lunch area.

It’s a Tough Life.

In all seriousness, New Economy Project is in full operation and as busy as ever.  Our campaign to stop employment credit checks is going strong, and we are poised to win the strongest law in the country banning this discriminatory practice (join us here). We recently helped incorporate the East Harlem/El Barrio Community Land Trust; and are gearing up to organize a public banking effort in New York. The NYC Financial Justice Hotline is in full swing. And in anticipation of a federal announcement on immigration relief, we’re preparing for a major expansion of our NYC DREAMer Loan Fund.

Going forward, our blog will address these and other substantive matters, on which we promise to share our candid opinions and insights. We’re excited to have this new platform to communicate with all of you — and we have a lot to say!

So please bookmark the site, and subscribe to our mailing list. Tweet and share our work with your friends. Let us know what you think and what you’d like to see here.

It’s a new day at New Economy! We look forward to hearing from you.
